Our homies down at LA’s finest, No Kings Record Cadre, just unveiled their latest “batch”, lending further fuel to our colossal love of pictures of multiple tapes. Buy all three together and save, because God knows you’re going to want to give a bunch of tapes out this Christmas. -Dwight

Thanks to Yvynyl and No Fear of Pop for premiering Sam Hamad’s incredible video for “Green Light”, our second vinyl release and first with Boston band Leisure. It’s their first formal release and we’re unbelievably proud to have the chance to work with them - last year, their first single got a lot of air time when Liz and I were “courting”, so it’s a sentimental victory as much as anything else!

We’ll have more details on that release soon, but you can preorder the 7” along with a limited edition art book of my and Liz’s collages, right here. Whether you buy it or not, we’re all speechless at the ongoing support our work has received and we are endlessly grateful. -Dwight

Here it is! Crash Symbols’ newest compilation, Dope Halloween Fuck. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I was super excited to put together this delicious treat (and the album art) for y’all. All of the bands that contributed did an amazing job, and I think all of the tracks work really well together to create the perfect atmosphere — whether it’s a pleasant autumn moment, the anticipation of getting ready to go trick-or-treating when you were a kid, or getting psyched for a creepy-fun time at a party. The compilation features a ton of unreleased songs (from The New Lines, Bone Quida Ida, Daniel Sex Jr., Nomadic Firs, and more), as well as the first track from boy crush (Sean Posila ofHigh Pop fame). The Electric Nature/Pop Culture Shamantrack even samples Twin Peaks. Put this mix on while you’re putting on your facepaint and enjoy. Here’s to Halloween!
Karma Vision - Teeter Totter
Bone Quida Ida - The Witches
boy crush - Lizzy Locke
Field Dress - Easy Shade (Shadow Mix)
The New Lines - The Phylactery of a Spring Street Malcontent
Nomadic Firs - In The Morning
Red Hook - Lavender Punch
Colored Girls - The Third Policeman
Rabbit Punch - Watch The Elbow
Daniel Sex Jr. - Prowl
Goat Lightning - I Am Blue
The Electric Nature with Pop Culture Shaman - Shut Yr Eyes and You’ll Burst Into Flames

Crash Symbols alums Beggars in a New Land have a new tape coming out on Amdiscs! We’re still waiting on details of the release, but stream “Remember the Destiny” in the meantime. In the meantime, their debut, Teething, is still available for free download right here. -Dwight

We’re proud to set our new Crash Symbols vimeo channel sailing on a weird note, gently caressed out of a robot carcass by Featureless Ghost, who actually made and filmed the video themselves. “Brain Case” comes from Biologically-Sound Cyber-Bodies, their new cassette EP, available here.

Thanks to Crack in the Road for the premiere!

Burger Records, a deservedly well loved record store and imprint based near Los Angeles, recently offered a free tape in exchange for pictures of people’s collections of their releases. It’s yielded some great shots, including this one from La Puente… reminds me of when I’d stack up all my Power Ranger junk and take pics. People tell me that sounds a little autistic, but who knows. Check out other people’s collections over on Burger’s facebook and keep your eyes peeled - when we have a back catalog of 128 releases, we’ll probably make a similar offer. -Dwight

Tape Trade #1: Holy Page Records
Seeing as we and plenty of others have an ideal music buying budget far in excess of the reality, we’re trying to orchestrate a new series of tape trades between Crash Symbols and our other favorite tape loving label pals. We’ll document the trades a little bit on each occasion, with some pics (find above) and notes (find below) and, the ol’ internet workhorse, links (interspersed). Right off the bat, we had to trade with our friend Christian Michael Filardo, who runs the visually unparallelable Holy Page Records - here’s what we got.
1. Holy Page Halloween Compilation, we’ve got our own Halloween mixtape coming so I won’t oversell this one, but it’s pretty damn amazing (our earlier post over at Get Off the Coast).
2. Girlhood - Surfs Pure Heart, there’s something particularly interesting about an album from a band called Girlhood, with tracks like “Purity Kiss”, coming out on a label like Holy Page… but when it turns out to be mellow, ambient beats, with a backdrop of vaguely religious drone patterns… suffice it to say that conceptually speaking, this is one of Filardo’s higher benchmarks, on par with him soulfully looking up to Heaven on the cover of his album In A Quiet Way.
3. Good Amount - Power, this is one of Christian’s albums as Good Amount, and it’s incredible. In his own words: “To walk through a wave and beyond the field of golden wheat, to the top of the mountain where you find the stone. A man meditates and tells you of his son, who is searching. He then shows you a picture of his son and you realize he is your father. In a faint light a circle appears around you and you are given the choice between two icons that appear to be mirrors of each other. You feel loved and in turn generate kindness, a small lamp you see on the horizon line near the farthest cloud illuminates. A powerful sound, overwhelms.”

Web Walk… delves into the inner workings of a technology-damaged psyche with a sort of macabre sense of humor, via punk-fueled, claustrophobic electro pop. -Don’t Die Wondering
Featureless Ghost’s Biologically-Sound Cyber-Bodies is a grotesque artifact, carried back from the death of an alternate future and embellished by a cult of delusionals for a decade until its commitment to highest-fidely chrome reel. It’s our latest and we hope it makes your implants tingle.
Mp3 :: Featureless Ghost - Web Walk
